DVStation's Preventative Monitoring solution integrates with Newpoint's Compass network management system

NAB 2002, Las Vegas - Newpoint Technologies, an industry leader in satellite and terrestrial network management systems, has successfully integrated Pixelmetrix's DVStation into its end-to-end management and quality control system for digital broadcast facilities.

Newpoint Technologies offers a suite of products that provide network management solutions for data, Internet, satellite, broadcast, telecom and hybrid network applications. At the heart of the suite is a real-time database server that provides rapid system response for both large and small infrastructure systems. The server is the core component of Newpoint Compass, a highly flexible software management package with extremely high-speed data access. Compass allows support for a wide range of devices through SNMP, serial and contact closure interfaces. It was created to reliably protect the vital traffic handled by communications networks while minimizing integration costs. DVStation now functions seamlessly with the Compass software.
Pixelmetrix DVStation is the most advanced guardian available to continuously monitor the quality of digital television signals and protect against network failure. Through a unique of set of plug-in modules and powerful parallel processing capability, it can monitor in real-time thousands of points simultaneously within hundreds of digital television signals. If a preset threshold in a signal moves out of range, DVStation can send a warning before system failure brings the network down. If a service parameter -- such as language or subtitles -- is misconfigured, the unit's on-air service validation sends an alert. Problems can be isolated quickly because DVStation generates a comprehensive log that clearly explains which system threshold deviated from the norm.
