Newpoint Technologies is pleased to announce that its award-winning Newpoint Compass software suite is at the center of a revolutionary new Signal Quality Manager (SQM) Management System developed between Newpoint and Videotek, the broadcast industry world leader in innovative test and measurement technology.
The Signal Quality Manager system is a powerful tool for broadcasters in need of a rock steady, high performance quality assurance monitoring system. The system is based on a multiple card and frame design that gives the end user extensive custom configuration options, interface flexibility and the opportunity to monitor thousands of signals from thousands of locations through a central location.
Videotek manufactures input cards which are capable of measuring performance and analyzing confidence for video and audio from multiple sources including composite analog video, serial digital video, analog audio, AES/EBU audio, embedded audio, MPEG and all HD formats. All this is controlled by the easy to understand, color-coded Windows-compatible Compass GUI for quick visual verification of any problem site.
According to Phil Steyaert, President of Videotek, "The SQM-Signal Quality Manager gives the broadcaster a high quality platform that is fully scalable and capable of servicing multi-format video and audio. This system is the right tool at the right time for the industry."
An added Advantage of the SQM system is the Auto-discovery Wizard. Once a frame is discovered, the Compass system will automatically update the Compass database for the added modules, and build icons that lead to detailed display screens. These icons will be color-coded automatically to represent the condition of each input of the module.
"Compass is a result of over 50 man years of R&D effort and has been installed in excess of 1000 locations around the globe. By utilizing Compass as the foundation of the SQM Management software, Videotek can offer their customers many features and advantages beyond straight alarm management without the costly development effort required" stated Wally Martland, Newpoint General Manager.
