Newpoint Technologies and IDB Systems form partnership to provide software and integration services for the protection of critical traffic handled by satellite earth stations and network devices

Kingston, New Hampshire USA, October 19, 1998 -- Newpoint Technologies, Inc., the world's foremost designer and manufacturer of computer software programs for satellite earth station control and management and network device management, has announced that the Company has reached an agreement to supply IDB Systems with software products and integration support.
Under the terms of the agreement, IDB Systems, an MCI WorldCom division and a global leader in the design, integration and installation of satellite earth station facilities, will make Newpoint Technologies their supplier for the control and monitoring of earth stations which, combined with IDB Systems' protection switches, will provide protection of critical traffic handled by satellite earth stations and network devices. The exact dollar amount of the agreement remains confidential, but its value could exceed US$5-million.

According to Ostrouch, all new satellite earth station monitor and control installations performed by IDB systems will feature Newpoint technologies software. Newpoint Compass Software for the protection of earth station traffic is exceptionally easy to use and provides features typically associated only with custom-engineered systems. In addition, the optional Newpoint Compass Toolkit provides the capability to write interface drivers for virtually any device.
