Management of remote facilities including fixed terminals, transportables, and mobile terminals on ships and trucks present their own unique challenges. Since often times these sites are unmanned, it is simply too expensive to send engineers to remote locations for routine configuration and troubleshooting. Bandwidth is often limited and expensive between the remote site and Network Operations Center (NOC). Newpoint Mercury provides an economical solution for reliably managing these remote facilities. Mercury interfaces with all remote site equipment from legacy serial interfaces, to contact closures for facility alarms, and to the SNMP IP equipment. Mercury has a built in Connection Manager allowing for primary and backup communications to the NOC on a permanent or occasional basis and provides for data storage in the event communications between sites are lost. Advance compression algorithms allow for communicating over slow or unreliable links, and Mercury ensures delivery of the data to the NOC. Built for reliability, Mercury is capable of being deployed with no moving parts, automatically restarts if it fails, and can withstand environments from -20 degrees to 55 Celsius.
